For tourism departments

AtithiVani is a guest assistant built for hotels and homestays in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, the Dooars and Sikkim. This page is for district and state tourism officials who want to know what it does for visitors, and how it treats their data.
What it does for visitors
- Answers them on their own phone, in Bengali, Hindi or English — and chats in Nepali — with no app to install. They open it from a link or QR code the property gives them.
- Gives general guidance on the permits a trip needs, from a rulebook we maintain by hand. Permits are still issued through registered operators; the guidance is not a permit.
- When hotel staff, or two drivers, report NH10 closed, guests staying or arriving in the next two days get a WhatsApp alert before they set out — even at night.
- Guests who agree are called after checkout, and what they say reaches the property, so a problem can be fixed where it happened.
What it does not do
- It does not issue permits, and it does not replace official advisories.
- It does not call a guest who has not agreed.
- It does not offer a department dashboard today.
Data and consent
Guest records are stored on Google Cloud in Mumbai. The AI that talks to guests runs on Google's servers, some of them outside India. Every call opens with a recording notice, and a guest can say stop at any point. The property controls its guests' data; SARGVISION processes it on the property's instructions. Guests can ask for their data, a correction or its erasure under the DPDP Act 2023 — see the privacy notice.
Our policy work
SARGVISION has prepared a set of policy recommendations on tourism in the Eastern Himalaya, for governments across the region — West Bengal (including the GTA), Sikkim and the Northeast. We share it as a knowledge partner; our interest in AtithiVani is declared in the paper. Write to us for a copy.
